Sham(eful) Equality
"A district judge from Sheffield says that thousands of girls from immigrant communities in this country are being forced into unwanted marriages." This is stated on BBC Radio 4's Today programme's Website today. The reason, of course, is that (mainly) Asian men use marriage as a means to occupy the UK. Responsibility for this lies with the Council of Europe which, in 1985, determined the cases of three women, whose husbands were not allowed to live in the UK, to be Admissible.
If the Council of Europe had supported my complaint in 1977 about the UK allowing foreign and Commonwealth men to live in the UK through marriage even though I (and other Englishmen) often cannot live in their countries through marriage then doubtless the Thatcher Government would have honoured its 1979 General Election promise to end this concession.
From 1985 foreign men have been allowed to live and work in Japan through marriage. This gives an impression of equality. But this sham equality does nothing to address the UK's immigration problems. On the contrary, it is an encouragement to miscegenation.
Other countries do not have official bodies like the Forced Marriages Unit and the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Nor is it in Japan's interests that foreign men can use this loophole to occupy their country. It deliberately exacerbates the large excess of young men compared with young women. Young men from all over the world flock to Japan attracted by its hard-worked-for prosperity and Japan's unique culture is being destroyed.
